Choosing the venue
The venue is booked first, because it decides the date and the number of guests. Here is what to check before you sign.

Before visiting
- Know the number of guests, even roughly, for each celebration.
- Have two or three possible dates.
- Know whether the caterer, negafa and band are already chosen, or whether you will take the venue's.
Questions to ask
- How many seated guests, and how many tables of what size?
- Is the price a flat rate or per person? What is included (tables, chairs, linen, decoration, lighting, sound)?
- Can you bring your own caterer, negafa and band, or must you use the venue's?
- Until what time can the celebration last?
- Is there a separate room for women or for children, if your family needs one?
- Where do the bride and the negafa get ready? Is there a dressing room?
- Parking, access for elderly guests, air conditioning in summer?
- What deposit, when is the balance due, and what happens if you cancel or change the date?
During the visit
- Picture the couple's entrance: the amariya must be able to come in and go round.
- Look where the couple's table, the band, the dance floor and the buffet will go.
- Ask for the floor plan: you will need it for the seating plan.
Common questions
How far ahead should you book the venue?
Often 12 months ahead for a summer wedding, the busiest season. It is the first booking, before the caterer and the negafa.
