Planning a wedding in Morocco from abroad
Many families living abroad marry in Morocco, often in summer. Here is how to organise it from a distance.

Booking remotely
- Set the date early: summer is the busiest season, and venues, negafas and bands are often booked a year ahead.
- Visit the venue by video, or send a relative there with the list of questions to ask.
- Ask for written quotes and keep them, with every deposit receipt.
- Plan a stay in Morocco a few weeks before for fittings and last visits.
The paperwork, to start first
The procedures take time: the French certificate of capacity to marry takes at least 3 months, and a marriage at the consulate about 60 days. Read our guides and start there.

Family who travel
- Invite them about 3 months ahead so they can book flights.
- Ask who is coming to which celebration: some will only be there for the wedding night.
- Some families hold one celebration in Morocco and another in the country they live in: treat them as two celebrations, with two lists.
Planning together, in two countries
Part of the family is in Morocco, part abroad: share one list, one budget and one calendar, and hand each person their tasks.
